Bob Dunton, Corbett School District
Bob Dunton is the Superintendent of the Corbett School District. Since Bob came to Corbett in 1999 he has successfully spearheaded school improvement plans that have increased the school ranking of Corbett High School, from 8th in Multnomah County ten years ago, to 8th in the nation and the top ranked high school in Oregon for three years. Both Newsweek and US News and World Report ranked the high school in the top 100. Corbett Middle School has been recognized by the National Middle School Association as Oregon's only 'School to Watch,' a program that recognizes the successful implementation of best practices and high achievement at the middle school level. Bob taught Kindergarten through the university level, including 7 years in schools that were 90% Native American and 90% poverty. He has experience as a bilingual aide, a teacher, head teacher, principal, curriculum director and superintendent. In addition to being a much sought after presenter (OSBA, COSA, OMLA, NMSA, and National Advanced Placement Conference) Bob has been active creating a non-profit organization, establishing his own charter school, and assisting in creating chartering applications for school districts.
Andrea Hungerford, Hungerford Law Firm
Andrea is an attorney in the Hungerford Law Firm. Founded in 1981, it is the only Oregon law firm specializing exclusively in school law and public sector labor law. The firm annually provides services to more than 100 (of 198) Oregon school districts and community colleges, plus labor relations services to Oregon cities, counties and special districts. Andrea joined the firm in 1995, and has since become one of Oregon’s experts on school district compliance with IDEA and Section 504. Andrea also advises all firm clients on a variety of personnel-related matters, with an emphasis on employee performance and conduct issues. Andrea is the editor of the Oregon Special Education Law Update and regularly in-services staff around the state in special education and personnel issues. Andrea helped found Springwater Environmental Sciences Charter School in Oregon City, Oregon; she continues to serve as a school board member. She has in-depth knowledge of Oregon’s Charter School Law and all other K-12 education law. Andrea received her B.A. in political science from Stanford University and J.D. from the Lewis & Clark Law School.
Karen Phillips, Education Consultant
Karen Phillips is the former Director of the Oregon Small Schools Initiative, a program of E3 - Employers for Education Excellence which (since 2004) has developed, converted and supported dozens of small public Oregon high schools. Karen came to E3 from the North Clackamas School District, recognized as a leader in education improvement in Oregon. There she worked in a range of leadership positions, most recently supervising six secondary schools, a professional-technical skills center, and an alternative program. Karen secured and managed a large federal Small Learning Communities Implementation grant, and facilitated the design and implementation of high school restructuring for the district. Karen was a math teacher in her early career, having earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from Portland State University. She is licensed in the state of Oregon in teaching and educational administration.
Robin Lake, Center on Reinventing Public Education
Robin Lake is an Associate Director of the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) at the University of Washington Bothell where she focuses on charter schools, accountability, and urban district reform. She is Executive Director of the National Charter School Research Project (NCSRP), a multi-year effort to improve the balance, rigor, and application of charter school research. Currently Ms. Lake is studying the internal operations and staffing of charter schools, and she is a lead researcher on the National Study of CMO Effectiveness, a three-year initiative on the effectiveness, achievement, and characteristics of Charter Management Organizations. Ms. Lake is editor of Hopes, Fears, & Reality: A Balanced Look at American Charter Schools, and author of numerous reports, policy briefs, and op-eds. She holds a Master in Public Administration from the University of Washington.
Lynn Lundquist, President of the Oregon Business Association, Rancher, Former Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives.
Lynn has been actively involved with Oregon politics since 1984 serving in multiple roles including: Past State Representative, District 59; Past Speaker of Oregon House of Representatives; Past Majority Leader, Oregon House of Representatives; State Board of Agriculture; Crook County Planning Commission. Lynn has a BS, Agricultural Economics, Oregon State University; MS, Economics, University of Connecticut.
